Can't see prompt! - Ubuntu Server 6.06

First off, thank you for reading this. I just installed Ubuntu Server 6.06 w/ LAMP on my POS (not point of sale...) Emachines computer. Everything went fine except that the way the display is set up (I'm using a Dell 2005FPW), the prompt is showing up "below" what the screen will display. If I use the zoom-out and respositioning features of the monitor, I can get to where I can see the tops of the letters on the command line. Any idea what's causing this? It's driving me cucking frazy!

Thanks,
Plastech

Try rebooting your machine and, at the grub prompt, adding vga=normal to the kernel name. This will disable framebuffer mode and place your graphics card in a "fallback" mode that should work in almost every situation.

Ok, I tried both vga=normal and vga=761 in the grub config....no good. Could this be a problem specific to my monitor? How does linux deal with drivers, and things like that?

Sort of solved. Seems to be a problem specific to Ubuntu 6.06. I put Breezy Badger on there and its working like a champ. Oh well.
