Hi all

I can't mount /dev/cdrom on fedora 4. It inform "block device , read only" .But if I use ReaHad 9, that ok. I don't understand. May be , My fedora CD fail.

If it didn't give out errors, then it should have mounted fine.

Oh , CDROM is locate on /media/cdrom instead of /dev/cdrom . You should try this :
mount /media/cdrom <mount point>

What type of disc are you mounting? as far as i know, since music cds dont have filesystems, they aren't mounted the conventional way that data cds are.

assuming the correct mountpoint and device are in /etc/fstab (the above is corret, it's /media/cdrom) you should only need type mount /media/cdrom

it should be fine if it says block device read only (afterall you're mounting a filesystem on a read-only media)

my disc only is program CD. I show you all command I tried

[root@test ~]# mount /dev/cdrom
mount: block device /dev/hda is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: /dev/hda already mounted or /media/cdrecorder busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/hda is already mounted on /media/cdrecorder

[root@test ~]# mount /media/cdrecorder
mount: block device /dev/hda is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: /dev/hda already mounted or /media/cdrecorder busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/hda is already mounted on /media/cdrecorder


mount /media/cdrom
mount: can't find /media/cdrom in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

It seems as your cdrom has already been mounted. Just go into your mount direcrtory and see if there are any files.

If not try this...
type:
$umount /dev/dcrom
$mkdir /mnt/cdrom
$mount /dev/drom
$cd /mnt/cdrom
$ls

You should see a list of files which are on your cdrom.

do the commands i posted above in a shell, or if you like GUI open your file manager, go to /media/cdrom once it's mounted, you'll see the files.

I solved my problem

In linux mount /dev/cdrom
cd /mnt/cdrom
In Fedora mount /media/cdrecorder
cd /mnt/media/cdrecorder

I used mc to find directory for cdrom and type command following directory.
