Can't hear MP3s in FC4

Arrghh! I can't spend much more time on this one, or my wife will kill me--
I've got FC4, Pentium Celeron, Crystal Sound Fusion sound card. I can hear audio CDs fine. I've installed the MP3 plugins for XMMS, noatun, etc. When I attempt to play an MP3, it looks like it's playing, i.e. the progress bar moves along, the VU bars bounce up and down, etc.--but NO SOUND! Again, I can hear CDs fine, just not MP3s. What gives? Anybody have any ideas?

Do other sounds play well (dvd/movie playing, wavs, flash, ...)?
The CD sound is on a different mixer than the digital audio, so maybe that mixer channel is way down or muted?

Oh my @$%$!!! That was it! I can't believe I am so stupid. All I had to do was crank the DAC channel up on the mixer. Oh well, there's two days of my life I'll never get back. Thanks for the help.
