can't access all of my hard drive
 

Hi,

I recently installed suse 10.1 and used the gpartition or gpart partitioning tool to create partitions as it reccommends on the install page.

I have a 40GB hard drive, however I only seem to have 7GB in my home area.

What should I do?

can you post the output of the file
/etc/fstab

2) I gather you are a MS user so are you dual booting this hard drive and just not able to see that suse has resized some spare space?

3) if you would like to stay with linux....can I recommend you get a good live cd....such as knoppix or mepis 6.5

these live cds do not have to be installed but can be used to rescue (sometimes) linux problems and I use it to take images of my partitions.....has got me out of trouble lots of times heh heh

both knoppix and mepis have partition tools on them so once we know more we could try to rescue or change your setup.

to be blunt....while you are new it is better to just play with live cds rather than install.

4) and it is better to use a live cd to check your partitions as the hard drive one may not have all partitions.

I'm not dual booting this machine, I did play around with knoppix for a while before installing and still have that disk. I know it's a bit dodgy just jumping in, but i still have windows on my desktop machine :)

I haven't transferred all of my files back to this machine, so if it does come to re-installing it's not a big problem.

hda1= c = Microsoft
hda7 = / = Linux
