C under Linux and DataBase(s)


hello everyone

i want to know how does one connect C language program to a database say Oracle.

in J2EE,with JDBC ,using Microsoft ODBC tech.,one can connect to databases like Oracle,MSSQl,PostGReSQl.

i have heard of embedded C.
can anyone tell me hwo does C interact with DB?

Also,
Question 2:
if any profressional game programmers are in here,i wanna know
What Tools they use for commercial games>
OPENGl/SDL /what???

what is used to create games??

If you have a specific DB there are almost certainly C libs for connecting to it.
I believe there are also ODBC bindings for C
