I am trying to configure lame, but this line stops the operation

checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

so I tried to compile my own program

#include <stdio.h>

void main() {
printf("test\n");
}

and I get this error as i compile with this line

gcc -o test test.c

error:
<command line>:1:9: warning: "cpu" re-asserted

gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `cc1': No such file or directory


how can I fix this?

Looks like your gcc isn't installed/setup properly.
Consider reinstalling it... what distro are you on?

redhat 9, it used to work because i compiled xmms, gimp, and a whole lot of other programs, something mush have happened to it.
