I am not able to su to the root. Whenever I try to su root it gives the message bus error. Can anybody tell me why such is happening?
Thanks in advance
Well i am not sure, but i give it a try; according to
what i saw; a bus error indicates that a prog is kinda
causing a segmentation fault, but whithout the kernel
detecting that. Instead the hardware 'detects' it so it
spits out a bus error. (i sort of distillated that from a dutch
snippet on the web)
I assume you can normally login as root ? So only
the su program is involved?
su itself got corrupted? or some of the libraries its using, try
maybe this gives you a clue, but i am not sure about it
just did a few searches on the web, so if someone knows more
or gives better info
What is the output of
lsattr /bin/su ?
