burning divx/xvid to dvd for play on standalone dvd player

Hi, I have a DVD player that supports Divx/Xvid and I've got it to play Divx/Xvid movies burned to a CD, but I'm wondering if anyone has successfully burned multiple Divx/Xvid files to a DVD and got them to play on a standalone DVD player.
