Building own distro?

I know of the LFS project. Are there any doc's on creating a "total" distribution?

Meaning, I would like the base ground work or instructions of compling / creating the base distribution. Ultimatley, being able to have an .iso available, and an installer, etc.

Advise,

Mike D.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hs=PB...G=Search&meta= may be a good place to start.

And this is moved to Linux-General

I have had a lot of experience with customising Dyne:bolic 1.4, and now with the new Dyne 2 beta 4 which is still under development, but which is an excellent platform for building a live distro which can be run from a hard drive complete with your own mix of applications. I expect that the innovative nature of this distro will lead to a DVD version, even double layered so that it can contain just about everything out there.
So while playing with the others why don'y you have a look and be surprised.

The UK has quite a good linux magazine "Linux format" http://www.linuxformat.co.uk/
This month's issue has a feature about building your own distro, and I notice their website has some discussion about this. You might like to check it out.
I declare "Conflict of interest = None".

Linux Format

Has anyone reviewed the latest edition of Linux Format?

How is the article on building your own distro???

XavierP 11-16-2005 04:16 PM

Very basic - it's mostly an overview, there are no in depth instructions, but it will tell you what is possible.

Use it as a jumping off point rather than the whole of your documentation.

Cool, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't another LFS tutorial...

which is much of what I see on the web...
