Building own distro?
 

I know of the LFS project. Are there any doc's on creating a "total" distribution?

Meaning, I would like the base ground work or instructions of compling / creating the base distribution. Ultimatley, being able to have an .iso available, and an installer, etc.

I have had a lot of experience with customising Dyne:bolic 1.4, and now with the new Dyne 2 beta 4 which is still under development, but which is an excellent platform for building a live distro which can be run from a hard drive complete with your own mix of applications. I expect that the innovative nature of this distro will lead to a DVD version, even double layered so that it can contain just about everything out there.
So while playing with the others why don'y you have a look and be surprised.

This month's issue has a feature about building your own distro, and I notice their website has some discussion about this. You might like to check it out.

yeah i have picked up that mag in the past.

ill have to check out this edition.

keep the ideas coming!!! i'd like to use this as my capstone project, but want to gather a wealth of information before i sumit the idea to my prof.

How is the article on building your own distro???

Very basic - it's mostly an overview, there are no in depth instructions, but it will tell you what is possible.

Use it as a jumping off point rather than the whole of your documentation.
