Booting from usb flash drive

I have transferred a version of linux to a flash drive instead of a cd/dvd. How do I get the pc to boot from the drive?

Go into the bios (press F2 or F12 or ESC at boot)and let it boot from USB
However not all computers can boot from USB

I have looked at that and it isn't an option on my pc. Is there any other way of booting from the usb or will I have to go back to the cd way?

If you have a floppy drive,
you could use a floppy, to boot from USB

Otherwise you have to go back to the cd way
