booting...again

Hello everyone

I recently mucked up my windows partition when installing Slackware 8.1. Lilo apparently didn't install correctly, and further attempts to fix it made it unfixable. I had to reinstall XP. Anyways, I'm now ready to try to write Lilo to the MBR again, but I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of what the lilo.conf file should look like. I really don't want to go through the pain of reinstalling windows again, and downloading their millions of security fixes and so forth. I believe that I'm going to have to change it manually because all of my probing and such from the KDE control center fails to recognize my new partition (even though cfdisk and fdisk do) Lilo even complains that it's .conf file is wrong. Here's the setup:

hda1: WinXP ntfs and it is bootable
hdb1: WinXP partition fat32 (saved from mucking up of computer)
hdb2: Linux Swap
hdb3: Linux bootable

TIA

Here is an example of lilo.conf that can boot to Linux or XP. XP is on /dev/hda1 in this example. Of course every lilo.conf file has to be tweaked to work with your systems but this is just and example if that is what you are looking for:

prompt
timeout=50
default=linux
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
message=/boot/message
linear

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-11
label=linux
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.18-11.img
read-only
root=/dev/hda6
append="root=LABEL=/"

other=/dev/hda1
optional
label=XP

Tell me if this looks good. Here's my old lilo.conf file...

boot=/dev/hda1
prompt
timeout=50
message=/boot/message
root=/dev/hdb3

image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="vmlinuz"
root=/dev/hdb3
read-only

image=/boot/vmlinuz-ide-2.4.18
label="2.4.18"
root=/dev/hdb3
read-only

image=/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage
label="Linux_Compiled"
root=/dev/hdb3
read-only
optional

And here's my new one...

boot=/dev/hda1
prompt
timeout=50
default=linux
install=/boot/boot.b
message=/boot/message
root=/dev/hdb3
linear

image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="linux"
root=/dev/hdb3
read-only

image=/boot/vmlinuz-ide-2.4.18
label="2.4.18"
root=/dev/hdb3
read-only

image=/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage
label="Linux_Compiled"
root=/dev/hdb3
read-only
optional

other=/dev/hda1
optional
label="XP"
