Try Linux Kernel in a Nutshell from O'Reilly.

You can download the entire book from the author's website here.

The one I like the best is this. Describes various aspects of the extremely well. Code references where relevant - and only the relevant bits.

Highly recommended out of the 8 or so I have.

Yes - one chapter; one of the largest as it turns out.
But the author comments that even a whole book on the subject couldn't cover it (networking in the kernel) all.
