I have just managed to get the Nvidia Geforce2 MX/MX400 loaded and to the right resolution. Heres the downfall of it. I dont have the border that goes around the application with the minus/max and x. Its all disappeared since I achieved the Nvidia drivers to load. Any ideas how I can over come this please. I am setting this computer up for someone else and I have to get it back to them asap as the have NO computer and there email bag is loading up. Any help please
Running Ubuntu - Hardy - If that helps. I don't think the links help here. Would I have the same problem with Mint or another Linux? This is becoming a pane in the backside!!!!!!!!!!
No, I mean are you running the 3D desktop? I can't speak for Mint, you might want to try PCLinuxOS or Mandriva One. They both have very good hardware detection and they are very user friendly. If you're a fan of the Synaptic package manager, that's what PCLinuxOS uses.

I didn't know they existed Beryl and Compiz. Do you think it would resolve the problem?
I have spent too many days/hours trying to resolve this and I will download PCLinux and see if that offers a better incorporation into the computers. Meanwhile whilst I wait for the loading I have nothing to lose but try Beryl
No don't try Beryl, it's just that the symptoms you describe usually happen when you try to use the Beryl or CompizFusion 3D window managers. You could also check your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and make sure you are using the nvidia driver and not nv. If you need to make any changes to that file, make a backup first.
