i want to blink a line or word in dialog box

bhaslinux 06-19-2009 05:47 AM

you must use ASCII escape sequence to do this
echo -en "This is normal and \033[05;37;5m this is blinking \033[0m "

ravidangaych 06-19-2009 06:10 AM

dialog --msgbox "`echo -en "This is normal and \033[05;37;5m this is blinking \033[0m "`" 10 30

not working (blinking)

knudfl 06-19-2009 07:01 AM

Both

echo -en "This is normal and \033[05;37;5m this is blinking \033[0m "

and

echo -e "\033[5m Flash! \033[0m"

are blinking here !

I've used Dialog quite a bit, but I've never seen an option for blinking text. Looking at the man page and the most recent ChangeLog, I don't see any reference to a blink option.

If you must have blinking text, you could create the dialog box using your language of choice (Perl, C++, etc) and the ncurses library.
