Bleeping, how do I stop it?
Hi
I've been using Redhat 9 for a little while now and it's really great, but there is one thing that's really starting to annoy me (and my colleagues!) the way the system speaker bleeps at you when you do something like press tab to get bash to complete the line of text. Is there a way to stop this other than turning off the system speaker in bios? Ideally I'd like to just change an option in gnome, but any other methods are welcome :) Thanks, ~James~ |
If other methods are welcome then disconnect the pc speaker :D Alternativly you should be able to setterm beep off or something try man setterm or setterm help
Or if your doing it in gnome, you should be able to right click in the properties and disbale beeps, or even in gnome control panel (i think, have not used gnome in ages) |
Yeah I had a little bit of a look in Gnome terminal and you just have to uncheck "terminal bell".
