Hi,

I am runnig BIND version 9.2.2 and am experiencing a problem with Named daemon which I am hoping someone can advise me how to remedy.

This process is each time it is started gradually increasing in size consuming more and more system resources until it grinds the server to a halt using up all the memory, a memory leakage perhaps.

Any idea please what might be causing this and the best way to fix it please?

It sounds like a memory leak, which are caused by programming errors. The "fix" is get a version of the software that doesn't suffer from the error. I'd recommend reporting the issue to your distribution vendor so that their developers can investigate it with you. If necessary try using a version of BIND compiled from source, or a different version of the distribution.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried upgrading to the latest BIND version 9.3.3, restarted named and am still having the same problem. Any more ideas please as I am stumped? I am using Fedora Core 1.
