BIG FAT KDE 4.4 BUG how do I get around it

kde 4.x regardless of the settings in the power management the screen locks every time I close the lid on my laptop
this is such a pain I'm running as root with out a password
I have never seen a bigger muck up in free software than kde 3.5 to kde 4.x
is there any way to fix this

kind of the default is to blank the screen after a time out
it dose not lock the screen when a screen saver would have run
but the instant I close the lid it locks the screen

got it
main menu >settings
>system settings
in system settings >advanced tab >power management
side bar >general settings turn off "lock screen on resume" turn off "let power devil manage screen power savings "
side bar >edit profiles >actions tab (for each profile) >"when laptop lid closed" drop down menu >turn off screen

leave out any of these steps and the damn screen still locks
MAN IS KDE4.x ALPHA QUALITY SOFTWARE

This is neither common nor recommended. While you can run that way if you want, you shouldn't be surprised when it exposes problems, problems that may not exist when running as a normal user with a password set.
