Best ext3 75GB partition parameters...

Hi!

I have an ext3 75GB partition used to store large files mainly (very little small files), mostly CD-ROM images and large (several hundred megabyte) media files.

My question is, what ext3 parameters do you use to improve performance on a partition this size? You know, things like the journal size...

Thanx!

Oh and yeah, I also notice that from time to time the hard drive goes berserk with activity. I suspect this is due to my journal file being 10 gigs. :p

LOL kill -9 kjournald :p ;)
Can I suggest you to try a different FS? ReiserFs is better for large disk/files I heard :)

Yeah, I tried Reiser, and I was more impressed by it... but frankly I'm a bit nervous using it (I am a bit paranoid and I do fsck's once every 3 months!), and on top of that I kinda feel safer with the backwards compatibility with ext2.

What about my journal file, do you think 10 gigs is a bit too much for a partition of 75 GB? ;)
