Best distribution for intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card

Hello,

I own a vaio notebook with intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card. The distribution I'm using right now is ubuntu 10.10 but I'm starting to have problems or rather little annoyances (again). After a couple of hours of being online, when I try opening the home folder the window shows that it's opening on the taskbar but closes instantly and opens after maybe 5 - 10 minutes. Vuze also crashes if I try to maximize it from the tray. Also, other programs start behaving the same or crash (such as eclipse).
Yesterday I had the same problem + the mouse stopped working and my external hdd were not recognized anymore. I resolved it after restarting a couple of times.
In the past I had problems with ubuntu's hibernate/suspend resume which happen because of X.
I need help trying to find out what's causing this issue (if possible) and also advice on what other distro has better support for intel graphics card. I chose to go with ubuntu because I can get to work after installation and it also looks nice, so I'm leaning in that direction with my distro choice.

Thank you.

That could just be ubuntu bugs, they do happen.

If there is a distro that is more intel friendly, it would be because of the drivers. If you want to stay with ubuntu, try the xorg-edgers PPA-

Add this to your software sources-

ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa

Then update, that should get you the newer intel drivers.

Be warned though, if its just ubuntu being buggy for whatever reason, just getting newer intel drivers wont help. It would only help if your drivers are the cause...
