Best course of action?

I want to run a dual boot system with windows 7 and Ubuntu on my HP pavilion laptop and I am not sure when I should install the Linux half. I bought the laptop with Vista and I have a free upgrade to 7 on the way. If I partition my drive and install Ubuntu now, will I have problems when I eventually upgrade Vista to 7? Or is it worth waiting until I after the upgrade?

I would definitely wait until your 7 install is completed.

I have not done your exact process, but Windows has always been notoriously finicky about being the ONE, the ONLY OS during it's install process.

Also, set aside the HD space during the Windows install for your Ubuntu partition.

Blessings
Bob
