Balsa e-mail problems

I've been using Balsa for a long time now with no difficulties. One day, though, I was attempting to fix something with a network card so I was changing network settings, not really anything that should mess with Balsa. I was changing gateways and stuff like that to get a router installed on our network. Now, when I tried to read my mail in Balsa I get this message:

Couldn't lock /var/spool/mail/myers
POP3 Mailbox Accessing Error: Could not open mailbox for spooling

I've tried changing permissions, I've tried moving the mailbox but I have no idea what it wrong. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
