Backup using dd a SD of a plug while it is running to an usb pendrive?

Hi,

Imagine that you are the lucky one having : http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=4751

You boot it from the SD. How can u backup the whole SD flash disk to the /dev/sdb1 while the plug is turned on, at boot.

A bit like partition magic would do at boot?

No need of external usb monitor or knoppix live cd... or crazy stuff like over network using pxe...

thanks

I never like to copy booted systems with dd. I'd get a small sd reader and use it on some other system to use dd.

Also you never dd to a sdb1 or such, you dd to a device or file so it would be /dev/sdb or /mnt/flash/image.img

I think plug as in plug and jack so this doesn't help me. Example, I bought a TV and had to plug it in to power it on. What do you mean plug?

How hard is it to remove the SD from this device?
