Backup question

In the case, my whole server crashed and i need to restore everything on the new harddisk.

Do i need to re partition everything as before, before restoring ?

Or do i just do the restore and let restoring redo the partition itself ?

I have never met this type of cases...jus curious.

if i am trying to backup other server and always get this sign
"Connection refused". What can i check ??
