Backup Options
 

So, I'd like to make an exact image of a drive running RHEL 4. The server has multiple removable drive bays, and I essentially want to completely image the original onto a second drive so should the first fail, I can just pull it, pop in the second, and be back up and running within minutes. Is there a decent and fairly simple way to do this? I've used partimage in the past, but obviously it doesn't do what I've specified here. AMANDA seems to be a bit overkill, and to be honest, I'm not sure that it will do this either. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, I did, but thanks for posting it. I don't know why but I just assumed it couldn't be that simple. I used a bootable CD (Systemrescuecd), dd'd one drive to the other, and presto, it's all good. Sometimes I guess you need to learn that not everything in life is complicated and/or expensive. ;)
