I have a problem with my postfix in combination with autoreply...
I downloaded a program called "autoreply-1.2" and set it up, but it only replys my mail ones...
When i send a mail to the specific user, it gives an automated reply as like how i installed it, but then when i try it again it won't work, there is no answer. When i checked the log for fault i didn't find anything wrong...
The same problem with "vacation", only one time i got an answer...
Sounds like things are working as expected. I am not familiar with autoreply, but I know that vacation will cache a list of addresses that it has already notified of your status and will not resend the message again (so as to be a nice net citizen).
To clear the 'cache' for vacation, look in $HOME and delete the .vacation.cache file.
Looks you you can do the same for autoreply by deleting $HOME/.autoreply/histfile
Is it possible then to overrule this mechanism, and NOT to "cache a list of addresses"?
I want to use the auto-reply or vacation to receive information about the system utilization, not really for telling somebody i'm not there... So i will send mail to the alias often from the same address/sender...
