Automounting


i'v got linux on /dev/hdb, how to I automoutn at startup my windows hd which is on /dev/hda1?

im on rh8

If you want something to be mounted at boot time, edit your /etc/fstab file and add a line something like the following:

/dev/hda1 /mnt/windows vfat user,auto,rw

Read the man page for 'mount' for more details.

Also, mounting something at boot time is different from automounting it - automounting means to mount something automatically when it is accessed, and unmount after a time when it's no longer being used (sometimes called supermounting).

how would I make it so that it will supermount then? I have a usb camera that I want to mount right away when I plug it in. Even as a user?

For a camera, you might not even need to mount, if your camera model is supported by gphoto2 (or whatever camera software you're using).

Is it a still camera, video camera, webcam...?
