Automaticcaly recognize new HD

Is there any way to let Linux know a new HD automatically.
When I add a new HD, I have to follow these steps.
1.attach a new HD to PC
2.set up partition : for example, fdisk /dev/hdb
3.format the HD : for example, mke2fs -c /dev/hdb1
4.mount the HD : for example, mount /dev/hdb1 /usr/snoopy42

Is there any tool or software that can do all steps automatically if I configure in advance?

I don't think so

first of all it needs to be partitioned and formatted.

The system does not know what data's on the drive or your intentions for it.

It would not be very wise to have a system that assumes that every new drive it sees will be automatically partitioned and formated and mounted at some location that it chooses.

If however, you wanted to make a short small script of some sort you could do that. It would keep you from having to retype those commands each time you do this, if you do it often. The problem, or restriction rather, would be the drive would have to be the same location each time, and would also have to have the same number of partitions for it to work.

SO, if you had a bunch of drives, all single partitions, and you are going to "hot plug" these drives, then it would be a time saver to make such a script. But if you are doing different things on different drives, and not too often, then there's really no point to make such a script.

Cool
