Automatic Conversion to Daylight saving time problem.

what should I have to do if I want to back again to the previuos conf of automatic Conversion to Daylight saving.
also I noted that the o/p of the zdump -v /usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo | grep 2011
was

/usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo Thu Apr 28 21:59:59 2011 UTC = Thu Apr 28 23:59:59 2011 EET isdst=0 gmtoff=7200
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo Thu Apr 28 22:00:00 2011 UTC = Fri Apr 29 01:00:00 2011 EEST isdst=1 gmtoff=10800
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo Sat Aug 20 20:59:59 2011 UTC = Sat Aug 20 23:59:59 2011 EEST isdst=1 gmtoff=10800
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo Sat Aug 20 21:00:00 2011 UTC = Sat Aug 20 23:00:00 2011 EET isdst=0 gmtoff=7200

and changed to be

/usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo -9223372036854689408 = NULL
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo 9223372036854689407 = NULL
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo 9223372036854775807 = NULL

after adding the new rule

note : these are the i made to disable auto conversion to daylight saving.

I created a text file named nodst at usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa
Then type the following:
#Rule NAME FROM TO TYPE IN ON AT SAVE LETTER/S
Rule egypt 2011 2013 - Apr 29 00:00 0 s

# Zone NAME GMTOFF RULES/SAVE FORMAT [UNTIL]
Zone Africa/Cairo +2:00 egypt BRE%s
Then issue the following command

zic nodst
ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa/Cairo /etc/localtime

Are you asking a question here?? If so, do NOT reopen old threads...this original thread is SIX YEARS OLD, with the last update being over TWO YEARS OLD. Also, don't hijack someone elses thread with your own question...open your own.

hi

kindly be noted that I didn't mean to hijack someone else thread ,I just want to ask a question about the same subject why to open a thread with the same subject while it is existed so kindly don't accuse me that I hijack some one thread and i'm asking how to reverse the rules I did .

Actually you did hijack the thread. Resurrecting the old thread will not likely get a response from the members within the thread. You should have created a new thread in the beginning. TBOne was not accusing you of the action but stating the fact that you had hijacked a thread.

Please look at LQ Rules & Netiquette which is a set of social conventions that facilitate interaction over networks, ranging from Usenet and mailing lists to blogs and forums.

FYI: I suggest that you look at 'How to Ask Questions the Smart Way' so in the future your queries provide information that will aid us in diagnosis of the problem or query.

I have split your post(s) from Automatic Conversion to Daylight saving time problem. into a new thread that will hopefully help you with the problem.

If you have any questions then you may contact me via PM.
