autofs: can't see other directories

I'm trying to set up automounter on RedHat EL4. I have to mount some NFS shares to the directory /export/home/. But there are also user home directories in this directory. I managed to set up autofs with a direct or indirect map and it works, but i don't see the user home directories because autofs takes over the whole /export directory.

This works nicely in Solaris.
Is there any way to fix it in linux (RedHat)?

Thanks
Peter

I use NIS and I have never been able to get my centOS or FC computers to automount both local and nfs home directories. We pretty much have been forced to set up our linux computers to use only local or only nfs. We ran a Solaris-only network for a long time and this was one thing that was taken for granted :( Have you tried explicitly defining the local and nfs mounts in the /etc/auto.home file? We don't want to do this as we have too many users to make doing this manageable but it would be interesting to try it...

I would also be very very interested if someone has a solution to this problem!
