auto log in?

background info: I have a normal slackware install but I dont have a graphical login manager, so i just login at command prompt and type "startx"

lets say that I wanted linux to boot up and log in (on tty1) as an unprivelaged user then start x-windows, is there any way to do that?

You need to go to System Settings and then there would be a option like User Login or Login Screen or something like that. Click on it.

In the General tab of the window that opens, there is an option about automatic login. Choose the user you want to automatically login as from the pulldown list and that's it

You might also have to change your run level from 3(command line) to 5(graphical)

"System Settings" that sounds more like windows than Linux, are you talking about redhat or KDE or GNOME, I dont have any of those things, I'm in slackware with fluxbox.

does anyone else know how to do auto login?
