Audio mixer - commnd line tool

Hello,

I'am looking for a command line tool to control the audio mixer (e.g. setting the input source for recording). Exists such a tool or can I write directly to /dev/mixer (but what nust be written?)?
Background: I have made a script for recording TV using transcode which works fine, but sometimes there is no audio because the wrong input source was choosen.

Thanks
RGummi

Try alsamixer, it should be part of a "alsa-utils" package.

Hello,

alsamixer is a GUI tool, but I think amixer will do it. I will try it

alsamixer is actually a cli tool... it just uses a curses-based interface.
