Aterm won't write danish special characters

Hi. I can't write danish/norwegian special characters in aterm (æ ø å). I have created a file named aæøå, and I can open and display the file with the correct characters in aterm.

When I open aterm from another terminal, I get this error:
~$ aterm
aterm: Failed to open input method

I'm using Debian Unstable, with Aterm version 1.0.0-4

edit: oops, forgot:
It's working fine in Eterm and xterm

Thanks in advance
Hjalte
