ata2 slow respond at boot
Hi,
I got a long start up sequence (around 2 min) at boot. I dig into the log file and got the follow: .... <4>ata2: port is slow to respond, please be patient (Status 0xff) <3>ata2: port failed to respond (30 secs, Status 0xff) <3>ata2: SRST failed (status 0xFF) <3>ata2: SRST failed (err_mask=0x100) <4>ata2: softreset failed, retrying in 5 secs <3>ata2: SRST failed (status 0xFF) <3>ata2: SRST failed (err_mask=0x100) <4>ata2: softreset failed, retrying in 5 secs <3>ata2: SRST failed (status 0xFF) <3>ata2: SRST failed (err_mask=0x100) <3>ata2: reset failed, giving up .... in this way the system blow up around 1 min checking for something I cannot understand. The system afterward boot perfectly without any single problem. Is there a way to disable this check? Is some bugs in the code? openSuse 10.2 on DEll 5000, 2 HD Sata, 1Gb ram, DVD, PIV 3.2Ghz Thanks for the help Luca |
Same problem
I am having the same problem on one system, causing a delay during boot. My extract from dmesg:

I upgraded to FC6 since but the problem remained. Otto 7is7.com |
