Asking advice on distro choice for media center front-end (not mythtv)
Hey all, I'm new here...so be nice!
I'm asking advice from some of the guys (ladies too) who have experience with some sort of media-center front-end for their home network. I have a NAS / media server running TVersity, with a lot of movies on it. It used to stream to our xbox 360, but we got the dreaded RRoD and I'm am now looking at using an HP Thin Client for our media center front-end.
It's a 1GHz cpu, 256MB of ram, 512MB solid-flash hd, with a networking card. No CD drive but I can attach an external one for installation if needed.
This thing used to be running XP embedded when I bought it. I figure if they can get XP running on this machine, there's gotta be some linux distro that will do the same thing, with less bloat.
I googled around, and found a few distros, but none that do what i really want. MythTV is cool, but we don't really watch TV, so it's not for me. I heard about KnoppMyth, but from my understanding its just a simplified installer for mythtv.
I appreciate any advice except for smart-ass answers to "google it." Thanks!

Nexus,
Thanks for the advice. I checked out GeeXBox, and even though the interface is ugly, I think it's what I'm looking for. Much appreciated.

I forgot to mention the prettier looking Elisa too. It's still being developed, but it is also very usable.

nexus, thanks again. I will check it out. It's definitely prettier than GeeXBox. I'll have to see if the hardware can handle it.
