aqua (mac os x) and *nix

why can't we run aqua (mac osx) on *nix? isn't mac osx BSD based? i don't think it should be impossible to do it. if it is possible it will make linux or any unix for that matter really popular since mac has software that linux doesn't have and its way better than x11.

MacOSX is BSD4.4 based, the granddaddy of the BSDs, considered the staple for UNIX nowadays. Aqua, however, is not a free product, and Apple covets that chunk of intellectual property a lot. If they gave that away, that's the farm to them... who would buy an overpriced ppc when they could get the same badass GUI and all the tools on a bargain basement PC running Linux under the hood.

Cheers,

Finegan
