Application Server for Diskless Clients.

Today at school my teacher said that they will be seting up win2k adv server as application server so it can give office 2000 and apps like that to slow mashines such as old Macintosh LC's. He said that local cpu of the workstation will only be used to refresh the screen and the server will be running all of the applycations.

I was fasinated by this and then I remembered somthing like this about linux. Dose any one here knows any websites that give documentations on how to set up a linux application server?

And say I build 2 mashines or more to distribute the load I also need a website that tells me how do I distribute the load.

I have 2 computers on my home network I know I dont need anything like this for averyday use but I do need it for learning. I belive in few years avery one will be using diskless clients and will probly be paying some monthly fea to connect to high speed server with thousents of applications and games. So for this I want to master this and perhaps when I graduate collage some corparation can higher me.

So could you guys please help me with this ?

PS: I am not really good in Linux, I just know the basics.
If you want to email me regarding this please do so

I don't know about automatically running on a remote machine, but that's what happens with ssh, logged in remotely on ssh, the remote machine runs all the code, but relays all guis etc.. to the local machine.
