APC UPS Communication with Linux?

I want my APC UPS to shut down my linux box during a power outage. Where should I start?

You might want to look into apcupsd. I haven't had time to play with it myself, so I can't give you good guide. The documentation they provide seems adequate though.

Good Luck,

I second the notion of apcupsd. I use it on my Slackware server and it runs just fine. It actually was a real eye-opener as I found I was having almost daily mini-power losses (~ 2-3 seconds). Considering that I'd had a couple of routers burn out, I think my power was a lot dirtier than I thought.

Per your recommendations (good ones :) ) I installed apcusbd and it worked perfectly! Thanks, guys!
