Smile Apache, RedHat ES Permissions Problem

We have a new Red Hat ES Server running Apache 2.0 that we're trying to set up.

We have turned on VSFTP on the server and are trying to upload pages to it via Dreamweaver 2003 and 2004 - both with the SSH components added.

When uploading from a FTP program such as CoreFTP, uploading goes fine to our personal home directories (but not other directories). However, from Dreamweaver, we're getting a permissions error when trying to save or check-back-in.

We have granted the www folder write rights to the owner group and added my account to the owner group. That's when we get the error. If we add OTHER to the write rights permission, it allows us to upload with no error.

Why is it allowing the OTHER group rights but not the OWNER GROUP?

I know this isn't a dreamweaver support forum, but someone must've seen this before. We're betting that the issue is permissions related on the Linux box, but don't know where to start.

Thanks for your help!!!
