Apache 1.3.29 with mod perl & php built in upgrade

Hi guys,

Running Redhat 7.2 & am needing some much needed advice here.

Have had the above running under Apache 1.3.26 for nearly 2 years. Thought it was about time for upgrade for security reasons & all other components need upgrading as well. From what i can see over the nearly 2 years i have been running my web server all additional software have newer releases.

Obviously i have removed all make files of when apache was first installed back in 2002.

I have now dowloaded all updated software 1.3.29 of Apache, PHP 4.3.4 openssl-0.9.7c, mod_ssl) etc You get the picture 8^)

How do i run the upgrade ?? do i have to look through system & first find & uninstall all other old software or can i do the make & make install & this will just do the nesscessary overwriting?

Never really done an upgrade from source so am just trying to avoid a huge messup

Regards

Andrew
