any linux distro can running in RAM , not need CD_ROM reading when running.

i want to use linux , it's running itself all in RAM disk
so ,i can use the only CD-RW record somethings in CDRW disk.

i do not like knoppix running need reading CD-ROM driver, it's too
slow and can not use the CD-RW driver.

i have 320M RAM .

thanks

knoppix runs from cd-rom but most distros have to be installed in your hard drive, you don't need cd_rom reading while using them. check out some other like redhat, debian, mandrake, slackware,...

RAM doesn't have to be that big. although, the bigger the better.

i already use all kind of (almost) distro linux , like redhat , slackware -- install them into my harddisk.

i want to find one kind of distro, it's can boot from CD, and then load all files into RAM, so i can reject the CD from the CD-RW driver, and put a CDRW disk into the driver and burn it .

this is what i mean.

i think maybe let knoppix add some software can do it , but i not know how can do it.

You may need to build your own linux. Some people has tiny media player or web server that use less than 10MB spaces. Take a look of "Linux from scratch"
