I recently configured kdump (at least I think it's configured) on a RedHat box. I set the path in config file to /var/crash (/var has 9 Gb of space) and then I sent a panic to the system causing it to crash.
But no vmcore file appears in /var/crash when the machine comes back.
"#service kdump status" shows that kdump is operational.
Don't know what else to do. The documentation is vague and I'm certain that I need to be faffing about with kernel parameters for a secondary kernel but I don't know what.
Please post your thread in only one forum. Posting a single thread in the most relevant forum will make it easier for members to help you and will keep the discussion in one place. This thread is being closed because it is a duplicate.
EDIT:Reopen this thread after consideration request from OP. Though originally there seemed to be identical threads (https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...9/#post4743098 ) after re-reading and consider that there is similarity with this thread (Linux-General) does merit standing on it's own.
