I just got done playing RTCW (Return to castle wolfenstein), It kicks on my RedHat box. Quake series also runs great on linux. Just make sure you can get accelerated grafix drivers for your video card.
Here's my spec's

256mb ram
32m GF2mx 400

Is it just rumor, or did I hear correctly that loki went down the tube? I think i still have a loki demo cd from an older mandrake 7 set I bought... I've not heard much about RTCW, is it a POST-Doom release? I'll have to find that...Right now i'm still surfing for herring in Tux Racer! LOL

I heard that too, but i just checked the loki website and they still seem to be in business. RTCW is a new game that came out in November. It's built on the Quake III engine, runs very good under linux as long as you have the correct drivers.

come on, dont be daft, it didn't mess anythign up... you did it yourself. I know the daft things you were doing to try to get it working on irc. Saying daft things like that is just going to put people off. Quake is perfectly sound on linux.

Haven't played any games since Doom & Doom II on windoze. I'm not much into games, but I did like those 2 because you just walk around and shoot everything that moves. Is RTCW like that? Or what Doom-like games are for linux. And can doom be played on linux? What about that game with the 60's chick on the motorcycle on the box? can't remember the name of it
rtcw and quake are very similar to doom, esp as they were written by the same company (well wolfenstein WAS id, is it still?) those three games were pretty much al in a row... w/ quake being the nicest, but the new wolf game uses the quake engine and it's looooovely. anyone know if there's a single player linux demo available??
Id have written free linux binaries for doom and quake, so you can play the full games on linux, assuming you've got the old originals. if not you can still get demos. www.idsoftware.com i guess
