Any good books for the Linux novice?

I really want to learn Linux. I really do. I'm trying to get away from Windows because even though I know Windows like the back of my hand it just frustrates to me everytime it dies for no reason that you can pinpoint. Redhat has been running on my Thunderbird 800 for 2 days straight now with KDE with no problems - my Windows 98 box has died 3 times since then with a beefier processor etc. (I can't stand XP!)

Are there any good books someone might recommend for a Linux Novice of Redhat 9.0 to read and learn at least the most common basics.

Thanks for any advice! :)

I cant recomend a book but the Linux Documentation Project website - has got many books worth of information which you can download in a variety of formats:

Also - The Linux Newbie Administrator guide is excellent for new Linux users - there's tons of good info at a pleasant level. - Just download the lot.

"LINUX IN A NUTSHELL" by o'reilly is a great all-around reference from security, to networking, to web stuff.

Since you are using RedHat, almost every version of RedHat has an accompanying "RedHat Linux Bible" by IDG Books. Available at bookstores or online.
