OH
I forgot all about the portable-qemu for tryin nFlux- (debian/ubuntu/slack) or almost any linux iso PQemu enables you to play/install/run a linux cd or qemu-img from hdd and usb(any) on both windows and linux basically, its like qemu on usb or plays out of folder on desktop contains these files/scripts PQemu/ install.bat ... to run/install a linux iso on windows run.bat ... to run a iso-installed-to-qemu-img on windows install.sh ... to run/install a linux iso on linux run.sh ... to run a iso-installed-to-qemu-img on linux PQemu/qemu various qemu stuff and... make_vhd.bat ... to create a qemu-img of ? size in windows make_vhd.sh ... to create a qemu-img of ? size in linux the basics are simple- 1) download PQemu and a linux iso either a livecd or install cd 2) extract PQemu, place linux iso in PQemu folder 3) edit either install.bat/.sh or run.bat/.sh for name of iso, name of qemu-img(if necessary) its setup now for nFlux-slackware-Current-i686-RC3.iso now using 356MB of RAM you can change ram setting, default is 128MB 4) edit PQemu/qemu/make_vhd.bat/.sh for name of qemu-img and size 5) invoke make_vhd.bat/.sh by invoking "./make_vhd.sh" or double-clicking this will create a qemu-img of whatever size,etc 6) now start PQemu by invoking install.bat/.sh (if installing to a qemu-img) or run.bat/.sh (if you have already installed to qemu-img) you can edit out the qemu/name_of_qemu-img out of the install script so it will jsut boot iso 7) whatever linux cd you use, you must first partition and format the raw qemu-img so boot up either the slackware kernel/initrd from slack install cd or tinycore, etc I usually boot up in runlevel3, cfdisk and format the qemu-img, then shutit down then again start PQemu and install whatever. Its pretty cool, emulates a real hdd install perfectly, and runs like a real hdd install settings, apps added, etc are saved between reboot/shutdowns just like a real system if I left anything out, jsut post please Download PQemu (Portable-Qemu) 2MB http://multidistro.com/distros/slack...3/PQemu.tar.gz |
and so I will be uploading the new versions, now "stable"

Hey People;
so, I have a rc0 version of nFlux Arch Linux build its smaller cause its a "testing" thing, just some apps like abiword, gimp,etc no hdd installer, but it runs great from usb Its made same way as the Slack version, using LinuxLiveScripts-6.3.0 along with a custom kernel that has squashfs3.4 vs arch's 4.0 and Fluxbox is the WM It basically runs just like Slax, same cheatcodes,etc It has no DisplayManager yet, just startx Issue the command "xconf" after logging in to configure X, otherwise just using "startx" will use Vesa driver users&passwords user: root password: toor PLEASE SEE HERE http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ml#post3995660 And; I expect to have all 4 versions updated with new iso's,etc by next week hopefully:), and hopefully will be using archiso-live instead of LLS. |
New iso's are ready for download!
I think the slack version is best:) Quote:
Also, heres a "gallery" of screenshots http://multidistro.com/distros/nflux...scrnshots.html Downloads: nFlux Debian Squeeze (653MB) iso http://multidistro.com/distros/tmp/5...ueeze-i686.iso md5sum for debian iso http://multidistro.com/distros/tmp/5...686.iso.md5sum nFlux Slackware Current (608MB) iso http://multidistro.com/distros/tmp/5...rrent-i686.iso md5sum http://multidistro.com/distros/tmp/5...686.iso.md5sum nFlux Ubuntu 10.04 (697MB) iso http://multidistro.com/distros/tmp/5...10.04-i686.iso md5sum http://multidistro.com/distros/tmp/5...686.iso.md5sum any questions,etc please post |
So this latest slackware one should be equivalent to 13.1, right ?
|
Yes indeed H_TeXMeX_H
look at the terminal here, thats "cat /etc/slackware-version" in ~/.bashrc http://multidistro.com/distros/nflux.../nfluxsnew.png the only thing is the kernel is still at 2.6.33.3 but, I recompiled everything, including kernel, sbopkg's etc using the new gcc and kernel headers 2.6.33.4 I also grabbed SalixOS' create-slxsave-xfs-gui source for persistence wizard read the info and manual-install stuff in /usr/doc It just shows how easy it can be for even a non-programmer like me to configure slackware with fluxbox the nFlux line itself is a frakenstein mix of anything I could find that I thought may be useful, whether it was from vector, sbopkg, zenwalk, slack, slax, salixos, etc, etc I have almost 0 bash knowledge, most things I just imitate and adapt to how I can scripts, etc I test everything on my 2 PC's, like the nflux-installer, sourced from Slack-Mini-Server's sms-text-installer ...I went to install sms(current 13.1) which has a cool kde3.5 desktop mix of current and oldr kde anyway, the installer didnt recognize my 10th partition and innstalled to sda1!!, while it correctly formatted sda10 so, I brought this to their attaention, he fixed it and I apapted(am adapting) it for my use:) see here http://sms.it-ccs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=350 I still have to integrate remastersys' grub1/grub2 installer with sms's lilo only installer... thats why I have the "manual-install" info in /usr/doc its the best way and easy too, just make sure you edit /etc/fstab, /etc/mtab and /etc/lilo.conf and I left all info there for anyone interested did you try it yet? |
I haven't tried it yet, I haven't had time.

Mornin gang
So, I made and am uploading a KDE 3.5 desktop addon for nFlux slackware edition and I need someone(anyone) to help me debug it. I haven't noticed any issues except that one of the games doesn't start... anyway, its got all the goodies, including qt3, k3b, all that kde jazz, etc the module is about 108MB in size If running nFlux from usb/hdd, just either add the module to nFlux_13.1/base, nFlux_13.1/modules, or nFlux_13.1/optional folder (if you putit in base or modules folder it will autoload) if you put it in optional, either edit syslinux.cfg or edit boot menu, hit TAB and append the boot line with load=kde3.5.lzm then if runlevel3, after lofgging in root/guest do xconf and then xwmconfig pick kde if runlevel4 (GDM) just choose kde from session menu I'll post link soon as its done uploading.... |

So; I need someone to kinda "debug" the KDE 3.5.10 + QT3 desktop .lzm addon for me?? I haven't found any bugs as of yet, but I'm not the experienced with KDE though I prefer 3.5.10 vs any other:) so, if running from usb; just put the kde3.5.10-qt3.lzm in the nFlux_13.1/optional folder and add this to your syslinux.cfg Code:
LABEL freshkde Code:
load=kde3.5.10-qt3.lzm just hit the TAB button, then add the above to end of line Anyway; its KDE blackedout super nFlux addon with all/most of the KDE apps like k3b, kedit, etc, etc I thought some KDE3 lovers here could help me out and tell me perhaps how I could improve it? anyway; heres the download kde3.5.10-qt3.lzm (102mb) http://multidistro.com/distros/slack...3.5.10-qt3.lzm heres md5sum http://multidistro.com/distros/slack...qt3.lzm.md5sum I set it up so it KDE is the default in GDM so, just login as root or user "guest" no conflicts with fluxbox desktop either so cool users&passwords user: root password: toor user: guest password: guest OH: 1) one issue is after logging into user desktop thw WICD I-want-root-passwd thing pops up How do I turn that off?? 2) Anyone know where to find a shiny blaack kde3 themes,etc?? attached desktop (user "guest") below |
Nice, linus72, real nice. I'm using nFlux BE as I type this out, and things seem to work just fine. I'm running live, and so far I've tried Stellarium, Firefox, x3270, Linbread, & Alkitab. I don't use a lot of stuff that's on here, so I may be a while testing everything out on my systems. This desktop machine is pretty responsive with it, so I'll try the live dvd on my netbooks. I just put Puppy & Slackware 12.2 back on the Asus unit, and this is the one I want to test it on first. The Acer netbook can wait until I'm done with that. Thanks for making it available. I'll probably try out the Debian version later.
Grace and peace.... PS: Glad to see you're back on here. Greater exposure. |

hey ax25nut;
thats good news, but I got bad and good news... bad news- the latest slack nflux iso is bad as its missing many xf86-video drivers and I also had to rebuild some stuff, etc also, instead of making a seperate Bible edition I instead made a module that contains qt4, bibletime 2.7 and sword with lots of sword modules, etc good news- I am uploading the new iso now and the bibletime module should be done in 2 hrs and I made a new boot menu too |
OK
I have upgraded and uploaded the new nflux slackware current iso the changelog is: Quote:

Trying your nflux slackware ... very good first impressions.
Starting in live-mode without persistent store I can't set the keyboard mapping (german). It is always lost immediately. Is this a bug? |
Wow
I never even thought about that... what about loadkeys man loadkeys did you try to use the gui keymap chooser in desktop menu or at boot command line? or, you choose it at boottime, but at desktop its gone? thanks for tryin it:) maybe I'll have to make a multilingual keyboard module... are you booting from usb? |
