alternative unofficial nvidia driver for kernel 2.4.18

Hi all, i've a problem to install official driver for nvidia quadro gl 500 on an old red hat 7.3.
I've upgrade xfree86 4.2.0 to xorg 6.7 and open source nv driver (xorg drivers) works but their performances are not good.
Are there other unofficial driver that can i test on this system?
Thanks

First off, kudos for getting such a modern xorg to run on such an ancient platform! Can you supply some other hardware information or why you don't move to a 2.6.x kernel? If all you want is the latest driver that will probably work on what you have, I suggest to go here, nVidia Driver Search and use the drop downs to input your card and system to see what the manufacturer recommends.

I ve already tryed nvidia official drivers.
For a sw problem that run only on kernel 2.4 i cannot upgrade to 2.6.
I found nouveau unofficial driver but i was unable to compile it on 2.4 kernel.
The only drivers that works are nv drivers but they havent 3d acceleration and their performances are not good for me.
Are there other drivers that can i test??

If you need that acceleration I think it will come down to a choice between that and the software that requires 2.4.x. Are there no alternative apps?

AFAIK the only alternatives, with the exception of maybe a few embedded video chips like for some laptops (and even those are still all framebuffer drivers, not accelerated), for nVidia cards are nv, nouveau, and nvidia (proprietary). The only other possibility, perhaps, is replace the video card with one on which the proprietary driver will build...... a lot of work for one old app

well with RH7 a very dead OS
and so is rh8,rh9,rhel3,rhel4

it came out in 2002

the old 96 nvidia driver might work
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/96.43.23/
but it is likely TOO NEW and a 2.6 kernel driver

but that quadro card looks to be a 96 card

there is the 71 driver
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/71.86.15/

but these are 2.6 kernel drivers

this is UNKNOWN so it might or might not work
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Qu...fied/1.0-4365/
they date from 2003
