Alternative to crontab -e, time error (no gui)

Hello,

I am encountering problems with crontab -e.
It does not accept
Code:
01 22 * * * cp ~/file1 ~/file2
It looks that
Code:
01 9 * * * cp ~/file1 ~/file2
I used KCRON and it did work. Kcron wrote the same as I wrote.

Is there any alternative to crontab -e, could we just edit or vim instead of nano could work better maybe ?

thanks

that last sentence makes very little sense, but crontab -e uses the EDITOR env variable, so you could just change that to whatever you want...

export EDITOR=/usr/bin/nano
crontab -e

How did it fail?

What errors did you get when you saved the crontab?

If you want a different editor, put

export EDITOR=vi

in your ~/.bash_profile.

it said this
"errors in crontab file, can't install.
Do you want to retry the same edit?"

I just did mouse middle click from an another working crontab from another machine. All's working on that distance linux box, that's why I cannot understand (focused from another xterm).

I will try again.
