Alsa v1.0.14rc2 Not working with Intel 82801G on Redhat enterprise 4 RHEL4

Hi,

Have been spending quite some time with my linux installation to get the sound / audio to work.

Eventually, installed alsa v1.0.14rc2 , after I uninstalled all the old alsa drivers. I get errors in dmesg and the /proc/asound directory doesn't exist.

As I replied in my email, you should see something like this:
[tobind@razman my-builds]$ /sbin/lsmod|fgrep snd

snd_seq_dummy 3620 0
snd_seq_oss 31392 0
snd_seq_midi_event 7072 1 snd_seq_oss

snd_seq_device 7212 3 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq
snd_pcm_oss 40576 0
snd_mixer_oss 16096 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_hda_intel 16116 4
snd_hda_codec 164544 1 snd_hda_intel
snd_pcm 71652 4 snd_pcm_oss,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec
snd_timer 20068 4 snd_rtctimer,snd_seq,snd_pcm
snd_page_alloc 8712 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm
snd 46692 16 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm,snd _timer
soundcore 8096 1 snd

Your post indicates that snd_page_alloc is the only driver loaded.
