Cool ALSA sound card error

Hi there,

I want to have my sound controller as a ALSA soundcard, but while booting I'm facing this problem:
Code:
AC'97 0 does not respond - RESET
AC'97 0 access is not valid [0xffffffff], removing mixer.
atmel_ac97c: probe of atmel_ac97c.0 failed with error -5
ALSA device list:
  No soundcards found.
I'm quite sure that I have a hardware problem.

Does anybody know what the returning value -5 means? Where can I find a list with this error code?

Thanks

Try this:

Code:
modprobe -r snd-intel8x0 &&
modprobe snd-index8x0 ac97_quirk=1 xbox=1
Source: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/In...ps_with_ICH845

Hope this helps.

Nice shot, I know what you meant, but I think I really have a hardware problem. I've been watching the signals with the oscilloscope and I found my crystal is not beating.
