Alsa Problems on old computer

I have an old 486 that I am running Slackware 7.1 and Alsa 0.9.6 on. When I run 'alsaconf', this is the error I get.

modinfo: snd: no module by that name found
modinfo: snd: no module by that name found
modinfo: snd: no module by that name found
/usr/sbin/alsaconf: mktemp: command not found
/usr/sbin/alsaconf: Cant create temp file, exiting...

Thanks, Noah

Is sound support compiled into the kernel?
Are you running alsaconf as root?
is whatever tools package that contains "mktemp" installed?

I figured my problem out. I just had to install "mktemp". Now I am working on installing the latest version of alsa from source.
