Exclamation all users having problems

when ever i log on as another user, i keep getting errors about things not being read/write enabled for that user. even when as root, when i su to a user, i get:
bash: /home/oldspice/.bashrc: Permission denied
i haven't done anything to the default user settings. everything in a certain users directory is owned by them ( user and group ). have i contracted some odd virus? or is there just something horribly horribly wrong with me ( or my computer) ?
just in case you're wondering, i'm using red hat 9.0.

Probably something horribly wrong with you LOL.. kidding, kidding.. um
Alrighty, try logging in as root, and browse into your /home directory.
If you have KDE, this is easy. Load kde, pull up the home directory in konqueror, right click on a users folder, select properties, and, see if they own the folder, and their permissons for writing files...
If your stuck to a text terminal..
try manning chown, and see if you can handle setting permissions with it?

If ya dont wanna do all that. Try being root, and deleting your other users, and re-creating them.

**edit**
Whoohoo! Post 100! :-D
